3D Xmas Tree Card

Sometimes when I purchase a package of 12x12 papers, there are a few sheets that are really meant for scrapbooking (which I don't do).  Rather than waste them, I try to incorporate them into my card making.  This 'deer' designed sheet (Paperhouse Christmas Cheer)TOLD me to use it with the 3D Sizzix tree die (from HM Ben Franklin Crafts)!

 The 3D tree that folds flat for mailing can be made with two or three parts glued on. I wanted a fluffier tree so I added three layers of the Authentique card stock.

For the inside of the card ( Bo Bunny Fa La La Holiday Hoot), I incorporated the extra pieces of the 12x12 deer sheet. Because I forgot to cut the Lawn Fawn card holder in the front flap of the card, I cut it into a scrap piece and glued that onto the card. The LF card holder dies (available at HM Ben Franklin Crafts) are a must have for those of us who are indecisive gift givers. Oh yes, the Mambi stickers are a super easy way to add sentiments to any holiday greeting card.  Hope this post has stirred your imagination and excited your crafty fingers to start working on some 'sure to please' handmade creations. Polar Bear and Reindeer Bookmark/Tags

 I couldn't wait to try out the Lawn Fawn tag/bookmark stamps and dies.  I also wanted to test out the new Ken Oliver Color Burst powders and Liquid Metals.  The solution was to test out the colors on some watercolor paper and turn the resulting tests into tags/bookmarks.

 Although my photos don't show up the products very well, I think both the powders and liquid metals are gorgeous and just a little packs a punch.  The Liquid Metals have a lovely pearly iridescence and gorgeous swirling blendable colors. I love the powders too because the bottles have  very tiny applicators that allow you to sprinkle the potent colors exactly where you want them.

To use these tags as bookmarks simply don't glue down the paws.  I chose decorative yarns from my stash of fibers that I've collected over the years.  If you are giving a planner for a gift, the bookmark/tags are the perfect add-on.

Wobble Christmas Tags

 I got tired of fussy cutting the reindeer antlers for the AI  image (available at Ben Franklin Crafts) so I decided for the tags I would just stamp directly on white card stock and color the images in....much easier.
                                   

 On the snowman tag I didn't like the sentiment label as a rectangle so I tried taking it off but succeeded in ripping the edges. I liked the look because it coordinated with the deckle edge I cut with the scissors...a happy accident! I hope you'll try making some wobble tags to shake up your gift wrapping this holiday season.  Get crafty and give happy!

Wobbly Snowman Gift Card Hol

As with the previous gift card holder, I used the Lawn Fawn scene die to cut the frame from white card stock.  Then I sprayed the frame with adhesive and sprinkled on white sparkle glitter....instant snow scene! 

 I had enough of the 12x12 printed double sided card stock (from the previous card holder) to make another one that looks very different by just reversing the papers.  For the snowman I applied some coarse white glitter which shines even more than the glitter of the snow.  Little B and Jolee's stickers added a even more bling.

This close up shows how the wobble mechanism goes between the full image and the section of the arms with packages.  Sorry my photo doesn't show the wobble action.  This gift card holder was fun to make and hopefully will show the recipient that I gave more effort to their gift that just purchasing a gift card. Reindeer Wobble Gift Card Holder

 There are some friends and relatives who are hard to buy gifts for so I usually opt for gift cards. To seem less lazy, I make fancy gift card holders so they can see that I did put some thought into their gift.This year I found some adorable Art Impression wobble stamp sets at HM Ben Franklin Crafts.  This one had a reindeer butt stamp and a wobble mechanism included with the reindeer and sentiment.  I used a Lawn Fawn die to set up the scene that I cut from plain white card stock which I then sprayed with adhesive and sprinkled with glitter. This is an easy way to make your own sparkle card stock.

Here is what the gift card holder part of the card looks like. It is simple to do and because I used double sided printed card stock the parts matched.

Hope this gives you an idea of how the wobble mechanism attaches and shakes. Be sure to attach the clear side of the wobble to the card so that the white plastic side doesn't show.  (Guess who made a mistake the first time?) HM Ben Franklin Crafts sells extra wobble parts (small and large) so you can make lots of wobble butts. LOL!  May your holiday crafting make you shake with excitement!

Hedgehogs and Mushrooms Calendar Card

Here is another version of my autumnal calendar card. As mentioned in my previous post, I like to use images that are not holiday themed because the calendars will be used all year long.

Again I used a Penny Black stamp image.  I just love the PB hedgehogs. They are so easy to color with Copic pens.

 The Sizzix card die (an old one on a thick long platform) makes it super easy to cut multiple cards. A Sizzix circle die was used to cut watercolor paper upon which I stamped the image with waterproof Memento ink before coloring. The calendar was ordered from Vippies.

 I stamped the image on some scrap paper and cut out a mask to cover the image in the watercolor paper circle while I colored the blue sky and sprayed it with silver ink.  As with the card in the previous post, I cut the word 'Blessings' from copper colored foil card stock.  I purchased the Sizzix 'Winter Blessings' die from HM Ben Franklin Crafts Christmas section.  I hope you've enjoyed your visit to this site and will leave a comment if you have time. Mushroom Girl Calendar Card

 When I saw this Penny Black Mushroom Girl stamp set, I knew I had to get it for my autumn calendar card. I like to make calendars with a fall theme because it sort of fits throughout the year unlike Xmas images.  The background paper is from my stash of double-sided card stock with trees or leaves (best to organize papers by subject).

 I colored the image with Copic pens (plus a little pink Stickles)  and masked it off before adding the blue sky that was sprayed with silver. The Blessings was cut from copper colored foil paper which was run through a Xyron sticker maker to apply an adhesive. To minimize the stickiness after adhesion I dusted it with cornstarch.

 The card die has a little flap that holds up the card front and makes a space for the Vippies calendar.

 Here is a view of how simply the card sets up into a calendar for a desk.

 As you can see the die for the 'Blessings' actually said 'Winter Blessings' but I cut off the winter part.  This die is now available at HM Ben Franklin Crafts in the Christmas craft section. I was very pleased with this project and will include these calendars with my family newsletters.  Hopefully, I will actually be early this year. Yay me!

Pop-Up Thanksgiving Box Calendar Card

Who wouldn't be happy to receive a box full of animals celebrating Thanksgiving?  I used the wonderful new Lawn Fawn die purchased at HM Ben Franklin Crafts to make this box of joy that folds up flat to be mailed in a regular envelope.  The die set has everything needed to make all the parts of the box including the inner structure that holds up the forest animals. The animals can be made with any stamped images or stickers adhered to card stock, but I found a super sweet printed package that I attached to card stock with spray adhesive before cutting out the images. The grass was punched out with a Martha Stewart border hand punch.

Here is what the box looks like with the side flaps held down with leaf shaped paper clips. On a desk top the paper clips could hold notes or reminders.  The words on the top flap were stamped with brown ink and heat embossed with Nuvo brown embossing powder.

The autumn foliage is from an artificial wreath making garland. 

The mini calendar is from Vippies, an online company that sells various size calendars in bulk.

From this top view you can see how the animals, mushrooms and grass are held in place.

This photo shows the package which provided the cute animal images. As you can see the box folds up flat and can fit in either the kraft envelope or printed package.

On the back of the Lawn Fawn die set package is a sample of what can be made with the pieces and you can also visit the LF site for more ideas.  Sorry that the embossing powder and grass border punch were not included in this photo.
